This morning we are cruising the river and will port in Nuremberg around 1:00 o’clock. We are passing through several locks now. It is hard to believe, but we will be passing through 68 locks during this entire journey. So far, when in the locks, we have been going up in the locks but this morning we are now starting to going down in the locks (just like being in an elevator – we go up and then we go down). This morning they are going to give a presentation on how the lock system works. We were on the Danube and we have been going through different canals along the way and we will be hitting the River Rhine shortly. Since I have some time on my hands until we reach Nuremberg, I thought I would just post some random pictures of the trip so far.
Our Cabin – Our maid’s name is “Elena”. We thought this was very ironic as James, our son-in-law’s mother’s name is Elena.
Every day we have a different towel display – on this day it was the swan.
If you leave your PJ’s on the bed, Elena evens displays your PJs. Notice Brian’s bottoms in the blue and his T-shirt displayed nicely on the pillow. I told Brian not to expect this kind of treatment at home!
This was a bridge in Budapest with the lights on at night,.
This was the Thermal Baths in Budapest.
This was my favorite in the thermal baths, This was a whirlpool and the current just took you around and around without even having to move. You had to be careful sometimes as you could bang right into the person in front of you!
These were the changing cabins where you could also leave all your belongings.
This is one of our evening meals on the ship. The presentation of the food is really something.
This has been my favorite dessert so far. It was called a Chocolate Trilogy. Brian’s dessert that night is displayed to the right. We both order different entrees and desserts so that we can “share” and get a taste of everything.
This picture was taken in Vienna at the Palace we visited
This was in Vienna at the Palace as well. You could get a carriage ride around the gardens of the Palace.
This was in Salzburg. These two girls would do things with your hair for a price!
This picture was taken on the way to Salzburg. Sheep grazing on the hill.
This man is roasting chestnuts and you can buy a 1/4 bag for 3 euros. I bought a bag as roasting chestnuts brings me back to my childhood when mom and dad would roast chestnuts in the fireplace at Christmas! They were delicious!
This was a shop display in Salzburg. This is an Austrian dress.
Here is my fascination with the churches again. This was also in Austria although I do not know the name of the church. It is centuries old as you can see.
I have to sign off now as we are going through yet another lock. I will post again later today after we have had our excursion in Nuremberg.
